Hotel Ponta Delgada: Welcoming since 1993

Three decades of Azorean hospitality

Over the years, Hotel Ponta Delgada has grown, yet it has never lost its family character.

Origins

Hotel Ponta Delgada opened its doors in 1993, becoming the first hotel of the Ciprotur Hotel Group and one of the pioneers of modern hospitality in the Azores.

At the time, it had just 50 rooms and an outdoor swimming pool — simple, welcoming and full of soul.

The founders themselves welcomed guests and led guided visits, sharing with each traveller the pride of those who believed in the future of Azorean tourism.

The art of welcoming

Some of the team members who were there at the very beginning are still with us today, passing on to new colleagues the same spirit of closeness and authenticity that has always defined the house.

This legacy has made the hotel a symbol of hospitality in São Miguel: a place where comfort meets tradition, and where every guest is welcomed like a returning friend.

Expansion and renovation

The hotel was expanded in 1998 and renovated in 2009 and 2017, keeping pace with the city’s growth and the new expectations of those visiting São Miguel.

Today, it offers 98 rooms, a restaurant, bar, spa, jacuzzi, sauna and an indoor swimming pool.

Part of a larger family

Hotel Ponta Delgada was the starting point of a story that continues to grow.
Today, the Ciprotur Hotel Group brings together four hotels in the Azores, each with its own identity and unique location:

Antillia Hotel

in the centre of Ponta Delgada, a spacious hotel with rooms and apartments ideal for families and extended stays.

Hotel do Mar

in the coastal village of Povoação, a peaceful retreat between the ocean and the mountains.

Hotel Colombo

in Santa Maria, a hotel bathed in golden sunset light and the island’s serene rhythm.

Each property shares the same purpose: to welcome with authenticity, simplicity and Azorean soul.
